Long Description of Figure 3b:

This photo was taken in 1981 from a ridge about 5 miles west of Haystack Butte, looking southwest across Smith Creek toward Crown Mountain on the east front of the Rocky Mountains, Lewis and Clark National Forest. The near slope is densely covered with Douglas-fir trees.
