Microbial Processes
> White Pine Blister Rust
Epidemiology and genetics of white pine blister rust.
Researchers are studying below-ground, microbial-driven
processes that support forest ecosystems, and how they are influenced
by natural and human-caused disturbances.
Results of Studies:
-
Completion of a blister rust epidemiological
model, and long-term assessment of performance in current
resistant plantations of western white pine, are providing
a basis for developing management strategies to restore white
pine to the Inland Northwest.
