Evaluating Management Impacts on Long-Term Soil Productivity: A Research and National Forest System Cooperative Study
Coordination
Very strong coordination and commitment between Research and National Forest Systems is vital at the national, regional, and District levels to ensure the success of this joint program. Particularly close ties are required between Principal Investigators and Regional Soil Scientists to ensure the latest research findings are adapted into regional soil monitoring practices. An experienced field crew, dedicated to this study and supervised by the Principal Investigator, is essential to oversee field work. Because this experiment deliberately creates a gamut of stress conditions in vegetation, strong pest and disease interactions are expected. Therefore, coordination with pathologists and entomologists is critical.
